Choose Event-based video monitoring, the traditional and most common service, when operators respond to triggered events (motion, analytics, alarms), or Continuous monitoring site when the site must be watched live on a set schedule. Complete the form, submit it, and a Sirix representative will follow up to finish activating your site.
After installing all security devices on the site, follow these steps to establish a connection with Sirix's command center, and to bring your speakers online.
How do we connect your devices to our command center›
Your NVR is directly integrated with the Sirix portal, eliminating the need for additional hardware. For most manufacturers, we can also access I/O alarm inputs/outputs and audio features.
We support most commercial brands, allowing us to access metadata similar to what an NVR provides. There's no need for an NVR, which is ideal for connecting to solar systems for low energy consumption or minimalist LTE infrastructure.
Cloud AI with port forwarding.
This integration uses port forwarding to continuously stream from the NVR/cameras using RTSP. It is best suited for setups with unlimited internet connections and offers top-notch Cloud AI services for reducing false alarms and improving intrusion detection.
Cloud AI with video verification.
This integration is designed for limited connections, such as LTE wireless connections with monthly data caps or VPN connections. The NVR/cameras use their built-in AI to send email alerts to Sirix. We then analyze this footage to filter out false alarms.

Analog speakers
- Contact Support to determine the best method for establishing the connection.
IP speakers
- Ensure the speakers are installed within an internet-enabled network.
- Obtain the SIP account details (User ID, password, and server name) for each speaker by contacting Support.
- Speaker configuration:
- Redirect the speaker's HTTP port if you require Sirix to configure it remotely.
- Schedule a speaker test:
- Book a session with Sirix to test the speaker volume across all areas of the site.
GSD speakers
- Redirect both the HTTP and RTSP ports for proper functionality.
- Contact Support for further assistance or clarification if required.
Admin access, what we need›
Sirix does not require full admin access for the entire duration of your contract. To ensure the security of your system while allowing for smooth technical updates, issue resolution, or configuration changes, Sirix only needs restricted access. Access is limited to the functions necessary based on:
The features included in your package.
The type of system in use.
Whether the partner is subscribed to SIRIX PRO.
This approach minimizes the risk of security breaches while maintaining efficient system management.
Testing. For total protection.
Walk and speaker tests are crucial both when connecting a new site and on a regular basis to ensure your security system functions properly. These tests verify that alarms, cameras, and loudspeakers operate as intended, maintaining optimal protection and preventing security lapses.
Self-testing for security assurance. After setting up your cameras, it's essential to walk test all equipment to confirm that triggers are functioning correctly.
- Test in different conditions. Conduct walk tests at night to identify lighting issues that could affect AI performance.
- Regular testing. Schedule regular walk tests to ensure all equipment remains fully operational and security coverage is optimal.
Walk test with Sirix command center. To confirm that Sirix's command center receives all alarms, follow these steps:
- Book a meeting
- Schedule a 15-minute session with a Sirix operator by using the provided booking link.
- Alternatively, email or call Support.
- When booking, clearly provide:
- The preferred date and time for the meeting.
- The name of the technician who will be on-site.
- The name of the site where the walk test will be conducted.
- Be on site
- Ensure you are physically present at the location to conduct the walk test.
- Inform the operator
- At the beginning of the meeting:
- Confirm your name with the operator. Ensure it matches the name provided during booking for security verification.
- Share the name of the site being tested to help the operator identify the correct location in the system.
- At the beginning of the meeting:
- Perform the walk test
- Walk through the site, passing in front of each security camera to test their responsiveness.
- Verify alarm triggers
- The Sirix operator will confirm that alarms are logged each time you appear in the camera's view to ensure proper detection.
Speaker test. Ensuring audibility. During the same session, Sirix operators will perform voice interventions through the site's loudspeakers. Verify that the warnings are loud and clear across all areas of the site to ensure effective deterrence.
Why periodic walk tests matter. Periodic walk tests are essential for maintaining your site's security by ensuring all components, cameras, alarms, and loudspeakers, are functioning properly. These tests guarantee that intruders will trigger alarms, allowing operators to respond promptly to prevent theft, vandalism, or other criminal activities.
Access the Event Portal
You should now have your credentials to connect to the Event Portal, where you can review video event transactions to gain knowledge on any event.

Billing and monitoring policies
Monitoring hours
A standard monitoring contract includes up to 108 hours per week. Exceeding this limit may result in additional charges.
Engagement period
Pricing is based on a minimum 3-month commitment.
A $200 activation surcharge applies for sites connected for less than 3 months.
Canadian & American holidays
Monitoring services include coverage on Canadian and American holidays as part of the package.
Police-related fees
If an invoice is issued by the police, the charge will include the police fee plus an additional 15% administration fee.
Incident video retention time
Sirix stores all incident videos for 90 days in the Event Portal.
Every individual entering the monitored perimeter must disarm the area or notify the Sirix command center. In specific scenarios, alarms are managed as follows:
Towing / delivery vehicles
Cameras triggering alarms are placed on hold for 30 minutes if a vehicle is identified as towing or delivery.
Security guard
All devices are placed on hold for 30 minutes if an unannounced security guard is recognized.
Snow removal services
All devices are placed on hold for 30 minutes if an unannounced snow removal service is recognized.
Landscaping services
They must call in. Once confirmed, the site will be disarmed for 30 minutes.
Cleaners and employees
They must identify themselves. The operator will then disarm the affected cameras for 15 minutes to allow entry.
Excessive alarms
If a device starts triggering false alarms:
If the site is disarmed due to excessive false alarms, the loss of communication procedure on file will be followed. A detailed problem report will be sent the following business day morning.
Sites connected over cellular use an LTE SIM card for their data link. Here is how that data is priced, and what happens when a plan is paused.
Charged per 100 GB block of data used each month while the card is transmitting.
When a card is on standby with no data utilization, it is billed at a reduced monthly rate to keep the line reserved.
If a data plan is suspended, a new card must be reissued upon reactivation. The reissue is a one-time charge.
LTE data service policy. The rates above are governed by the full policy, which covers rented and purchased boxes, rented routers, standby periods after a disconnection, suspension and reactivation, overage billing and automatic consumption alerts. Review the complete text for the terms that apply to your sites.
LTE data service policy
1. Purpose and application
This policy sets out the terms applicable to the LTE data service provided by Sirix to clients whose monitoring sites are connected via a cellular SIM card. It covers the data plan, billing, management of inactive SIM cards, and the handling of consumption overages.
This policy applies to any client using Sirix's LTE data service and forms an integral part of the terms of service applicable to that client. By using or continuing to use an LTE SIM card provided by Sirix, the client acknowledges having read this policy and accepts its terms, including consumption, standby, and reactivation rates as well as the billing terms in the event of a plan overage.
2. Types of autonomous boxes: rental or purchase
Sirix's LTE data service is offered under two acquisition methods for the autonomous box: rental or purchase. The terms applicable to the SIM card and billing differ depending on the method chosen by the client, as described below.
2.1 Rented box
- The box remains the property of Sirix at all times.
- The SIM card is included in the monthly rental fee and includes a 100 GB LTE data plan.
- Any overconsumption is billed at $125.00 per additional 100 GB of LTE, in accordance with section 6 of this policy.
- It is not possible to install or use a SIM card other than the one provided by Sirix in a rented box.
- Following the disconnection of a box, the client has a relocation period according to the following schedule:
- For the first 30 days following disconnection, the SIM card remains in standby mode at no charge.
- Between the 31st and 90th day, the monthly fee is reduced to $35.00 per month to keep the SIM card active, with no data consumption.
- If the box remains unconnected at the end of these 90 days (three months), the representative must contact the client to determine whether an extension is required or whether the client wishes to return the box to Sirix's offices.
2.2 Purchased box
The purchased box becomes the property of the client. It can be ordered with an active SIM card provided by Sirix, or without a SIM card.
2.2.1 Purchased box with Sirix SIM card
- From the time of shipping until the box is connected to the monitoring center, the SIM card is billed at the standby rate of $35.00 per month (standby mode), as described in section 4.
- Once the box is connected to the monitoring center, the active plan applies: 100 GB of LTE data included for $125.00 per month, in accordance with section 3.
- Any additional consumption is billed at $125.00 per additional 100 GB of LTE, in accordance with section 6.
- In the event the box is disconnected following its activation, the SIM card remains in standby mode at no charge for the first 30 days, then at $35.00 per month between the 31st and 90th day, to keep the SIM card active with no data consumption.
- At the end of these 90 days, the representative must contact the client to determine whether they plan to relocate the box or whether the SIM card should be deactivated. The client is then informed that a fee of $125.00 will be charged for the shipping of a new SIM card upon reconnection, if the original SIM card has been deactivated.
2.2.2 Purchased box without SIM card
- The client is responsible for installing their own SIM card and subscribing to their own data plan with the provider of their choice.
- The client's data plan must include a fixed IP address, required to allow the box to connect to Sirix's monitoring center.
2.3 Rented router
- The router remains the property of Sirix at all times.
- The SIM card is included in the monthly rental fee and includes a 30 GB LTE data plan.
- The monthly rental price is $175.00.
- Any consumption exceeding the included 30 GB of LTE is billed at $52.50 per additional 30 GB of LTE (complete or partial) consumed during the calendar month.
- Router rental is based on a minimum term of 12 months. Any return of the router before the end of this term will result in prorated billing, based on the $175.00 monthly rate, for the remaining months of the rental until the end of the 12-month term.
3. Data plan and billing
Sirix offers a single type of LTE data plan, structured in 100 GB of LTE increments. Each active SIM card is billed individually, based on its own monthly consumption, with the exception of routers; please refer to section 2.3.

Data consumption is measured on a calendar-month basis (from the 1st to the last day of each month) and calculated separately for each SIM card on the client's account.
No other fixed monthly fee applies beyond the $125.00 rate per 100 GB of LTE increment and, where applicable, the $35.00 per month standby rate.
4. Active SIM cards not connected to the monitoring center
A SIM card associated with a box purchased with a Sirix SIM card (section 2.2.1) may remain active on the network without the corresponding site being connected to Sirix's monitoring center (no data transmission). In this case, the card is placed in standby mode and billed at a reduced rate of $35.00 per month, in order to keep the line reserved with no data consumption charges.
This standby rate applies as long as the card remains inactive. It does not replace the active data plan, which resumes as soon as the card starts transmitting again.
This same standby rate of $35.00 per month also applies to a rented box during the three months granted to the client to relocate it following a disconnection, as described in section 2.1. After this period, the representative must contact the client to determine next steps (extension or return of the box).
5. Suspension and reactivation
Suspending a data plan is not simply a billing pause: it results in the permanent removal of the SIM card. Any subsequent reactivation requires the issuance of a new SIM card, billed at the flat rate of $125.00.
It is the client's responsibility to assess, before requesting a suspension, whether keeping the card in standby mode ($35.00 per month) would not be more advantageous than a suspension followed by a reactivation.
6. Plan overage (overconsumption)
Since the data service is structured in increments, any overage is billed based on the number of complete or partial increments consumed during the calendar month. The increment size and applicable rate differ depending on the type of offer, as detailed below.
6.1 Autonomous boxes (rented or purchased with Sirix SIM card)
Since the data service is structured in 100 GB of LTE increments, any overage is billed at $125.00 per complete or partial increment consumed during the calendar month.
Example: consumption of 110 GB of LTE in a given month corresponds to two 100 GB of LTE increments, for a total of $250.00 for that month.
6.2 Rented router
Since the router's data service is structured in 30 GB of LTE increments, any overage is billed at $52.50 per complete or partial increment consumed during the calendar month.
Example: consumption of 45 GB of LTE in a given month corresponds to two 30 GB of LTE increments, for a total of $105.00 for that month.
Fees related to a partial additional increment, whether for an autonomous box or a router, are adjusted and billed on the invoice following the month of consumption concerned.
7. Consumption alerts
To allow the client to track their data consumption in real time, Sirix sends automatic email alerts when consumption reaches the following thresholds, calculated based on the data plan included in the client's offer:
- 25% of expected consumption
- 50% of expected consumption
- 75% of expected consumption
- 100% of expected consumption
These alerts are provided for informational purposes only and do not suspend or limit the service. Any consumption beyond 100% is billed in accordance with section 6 of this policy.

To achieve optimal site security, it's crucial to complement video surveillance with additional physical deterrents. Measures like fences, bollards, lights, and warning signs create extra layers of protection, reducing the chances of intrusions. These elements work together with video monitoring to strengthen your security strategy and keep your property safe.
Fences
Fences create a strong physical barrier, making it more difficult for intruders to enter.
- Placement. Install fences around the entire perimeter of the property. Use cement blocks in secluded areas to prevent vehicles or other valuable assets from being driven away.
- Selection. Steel mesh fences are an excellent option due to their strength and durability.
Bollards
Bollards provide physical protection while maintaining aesthetics, preventing vehicles from unauthorized access.
- Arrangement. Space bollards close enough to block even the narrowest vehicle.
- Selection. Choose bollards that suit the site's needs, balancing security with visual appeal.
Gates
A secure gate is crucial to preventing intrusions. Weak hinges or poorly fitted gates can easily be breached.
- Selection. Match gate hinges with the weight and width of the gate. Choose appropriate locks, latches, and wheels to avoid weak points.
Locks
Locks are essential deterrents, showing that security is taken seriously.
- Types. Deadbolts, padlocks, electronic locks, smart locks, and biometric locks offer different levels of security.
- Selection. Use robust locks to delay intruders, making break-ins more difficult.
Reinforcements for locks
Reinforcing locks adds an extra layer of protection, making it harder for intruders to bypass security.
- Examples:
- Solid steel hasps. Provide resistance to prying and cutting attempts.
- Hidden shackle locks. Secure trailers or vehicles with additional barriers.
- Anti-theft cases. Protect container locks with tamper-proof covers.
Adding reinforcements increases the time it takes to break in, discouraging intruders from persisting.
Warning signs
Warning signs alert potential intruders that the site is monitored, deterring unauthorized access.
- Placement. Display signs prominently at entrances, around the perimeter, near security cameras, and inside the site.
- Visibility. Choose fonts and colors that are legible in all lighting conditions, and avoid obstructions like trees or flags.
Lights
Proper lighting is essential for both deterring intruders and enhancing camera performance. Here's how to ensure your lighting setup is effective:
Where to place lights
- Entrances and exits. Prevent unauthorized access and make it clear who is coming and going.
- Perimeter. Illuminate all boundaries to deter intruders from approaching.
- Near surveillance cameras. Improve the camera's visibility and ensure high-quality footage.
- Warning signs. Highlight signs to enhance visibility at night.
How to assess your lighting setup
- Visit at night. Walk around the site at night to check if every area is well-lit. Pay special attention to entrances, parking lots, and storage areas.
- Ensure uniform lighting. Avoid areas with extreme light contrast, which can create shadows and blind spots.
Lighting placement best practices
- Avoid direct light at cameras. Bright light sources, such as the sun or headlights, can temporarily blind cameras.
- Steer clear of reflective surfaces. Mirrors, shiny floors, or ceilings can cause false alarms due to reflections.
- Avoid cameras with built-in infrared. These cameras may struggle with rain, fog, or spider webs, which reflect light and distort images. Instead, use standard cameras with nearby lighting or thermal cameras for better performance.
A well-lit site not only deters intruders but also ensures clear visibility for camera analytics, enabling rapid detection and response.
